2000-2001
Boys Player of the Year
G Delonte West, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr., 6-3
Hard-working guard averaged 20.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists,
and 3.1 steals per game. Scored more than 30 points three times,
including a season-high 34 points in a 100-67 victory over
Northwestern on Feb. 16. Helped lead Raiders to their first state
tournament appearance and a school-record 23 victories. Had 22
points and 8 rebounds in the Raiders' 70-58 loss in the Maryland 4A
championship. Averaged 18 points per game during his high school
career. Scored in double figures in all but one game this season.

Girls Palyer of the Year
G-F Monique Currie, Bullis, Sr., 6-0
Two-time All-Met Player of the Year. Scored a school-record 661
points this season to become the Bulldogs' all-time leading scorer
(2,221 points). Averaged 21 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals per game
as Bullis won its second consecutive ISL AA Division championship.
Finalist for the Naismith Award, given to the top girls high school
basketball player in the country. Only area player selected to
compete in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game.
Finished career with 41 points and 10 rebounds in ISL AA title game
victory. Signed with Duke.
Girls Coach of the Year
Richard Brown, Elizabeth Seton
Third-year coach led the Roadrunners to a 27-3 record, the WCAC
championship and the City Title, despite injuries to several key
players throughout the season. Days before the season began, 6-3
center Erica Pollock suffered a season-ending knee injury. Key
contributors Jasmine Johnson and Ebony Toliver were injured in a car
accident on Feb. 6 (Toliver returned for the City Title game;
Johnson did not return). Finished season by winning 15 of 16 games,
losing only to St. John's in the Bishop Walsh tournament final. Won
games this season by an average of 19.1 points per game. Career
record: 82-11.
First Team
Girls First Team
G Cotelia Bond-Young, Elizabeth Seton, Jr., 5-7
A pure shooter and among the best ball-handlers in the area, she
averaged 18 points, 6 assists and 5 steals per game. Season
highlight: Scoring 40 points in an 85-73 victory over O'Connell on
Jan. 30.
G Rochelle Coleman, Paint Branch, Sr., 5-8
School's all-time leading scorer (1,595 points) averaged 17.4 points
and 8.3 rebounds. Helped lead Panthers to three consecutive state
tournaments, capped by last month's Maryland 3A championship. Signed
with Syracuse.
G Shanda Holmes, H.D. Woodson, Sr., 5-6
Three-year starter averaged 17.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6 steals
per game. Led the Warriors to their 16th DCIAA title and sixth City
Title game appearance, the most of any conference school. Signed
with Virginia Tech.
G-F Candice Howard, Bladensburg, Soph., 6-0
Strong, versatile player led Mustangs (22-4) to the Prince George's
3A title and the Maryland 3A semifinals. Averaged 30.3 points during
the 3A East Region tournament and averaged 20.6 points and 11
rebounds for the season.
G Jill Marano, Arundel, Sr., 5-8
Point guard finished career with a school-record 480 assists.
Averaged 15.9 points per game as the Wildcats won their second
consecutive Maryland 4A East title. Is the school's second-leading
career scorer (1,291 points). Signed with La Salle.
C Lynette O'Reggio, Elizabeth Seton, Sr., 6-4
Averaged 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Roadrunners (27-3) to
the WCAC championship and City Title. Named City Title MVP after
17-rebound, 11-block performance in 47-43 victory over H.D. Woodson.

G Greeba Outen Barlow, River Hill, Sr, 5-10
Averaged 18 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists as the Hawks (23-2)
advanced to the Maryland 3A East Region final. Finished as the
schoolÕs all-time leading scorer, including boys and girls, at 1,233
points. Signed with George Washington.
G Anesia Smith, Hayfield, Sr., 5-9
Repeat All-Met was named Virginia AAA Northern Region player of the
year. Helped lead the Hawks (21-7) to the state quarterfinals.
Averaged 20.2 points per game. Season high: 33 points vs. West
Springfield.
C Tiffany Stansbury, Riverdale Baptist, Sr., 6-3Dominant post player
averaged 15.6 points, 14.8 rebounds and 5 blocked shots per game.
Helped lead Crusaders to fourth straight National Association of
Christian Athletes championship. Signed with Delaware State.

Georgetown signee led the Clippers to the Maryland 4A final. Had a
double-double in points and rebounds in 21 of 24 games. Had 33
points and 23 rebounds in a victory over Parkdale and averaged 23
points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks per game.
Joi Jefferson, Riverdale Baptist, Sr., 5-9, G
Four-year starter led the Crusaders to a 29-game winning streak and
to their third straight National Association Christian Athletics
championship. Broke the 1,400-point and 500-steal marks for her
career. Averaged 15 points, 8 steals and 5 assists per game.
Committed to Northeastern.
Kate Kreager, Chantilly, Sr., 6-1, C
Dominant post player went over the 30-point scoring mark six times
this season, including a career-high 38 points in a victory over
Falls Church. Set a school record with ??? rebounds in a season.
Averaged 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks per game. Committed to
Xavier.
Katrina Martin, Elizabeth Seton, Sr., 5-9, G
All-around player is the Bladensburg school's all-time leading
scorer with more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Led the
Roadrunners to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference regular
season title. Committed to Drexel.
Andrea Noble, Anacostia, Sr., 6-2, F
Three-year starter led the Southeast Washington school to its first
DCIAA championship and City Title. Scored 1,223 points and blocked
173 shots this season. Averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 blocks and
3 assists per game.
Danyelle Payne, Dunbar, Sr., 5-10, G
Scored 30 points or more eight times this season, including an
area-best 50 points in a victory over Cardozo. Three-year starter
led the Northwest Washington school to its first DCIAA West title.
Averaged 26 points and eight rebounds per game. Committed to
Kentucky.
Anesia Smith, Mount Vernon, Jr., 5-9, G
Helped the Alexandria school extend its National District winning
streak to 52 games. Averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.2 steals
and 5.5 assists. Named co-National District player of the year by
coaches and the district's Defensive player of the year for the
second straight season.

Repeat All-Met. Led the Lions to their second straight Prince
George's 4A title and a berth in the regional finals. The North
Carolina signee averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocked shots
per game.
KiKi Wimbush, Suitland, Sr., 5-8, G
Led the District Heights school to two straight Maryland 4A titles
and a semifinal appearance this season. Had 1,235 career points and
334 steals. Averaged 26 points, 6 assists and 5 steals per game.
