It is perhaps the most important number in basketball, five. Yes, it does stand for the number of players for a team on the court at one time.

Yet, for the Eleanor Roosevelt girls basketball team, five meant a lot more on Friday as five members of the team signed their letters of intent to attend their respective schools.

Olivia Applewhite signed to Dayton University, Ahjah Hall signed to Duquesne University, Elashier Hall signed to Syracuse University, Nickia Gibbs signed to St. Frances University, and Alexis Mulloy signed to the Air Force Academy.

However, head coach Rod Hairston and the program still have three remaining players that currently remain undecided in Tabitha Russell, Noel Bullock, and Jasmine Nolan.

As five was the most important number of the day, five is also indeed the most important number of the upcoming 2008-2009 season.

The Raiders will aim for their fifth consecutive 4A state title this upcoming season.
